God cannot be separated from His promises

To see the fulfilment of God’s promises, we need to first believe that these promises are specifically for us. God wants to fulfil his promises for our lives. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a part to play in their fulfilment: we need to believe his promises and claim them.

Why should we rely on his promises?

God cannot lie Titus 1:2 (ESV) “in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began” Numbers 23:19 (ESV) “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?”

God is faithful Hebrews 10:23 (ESV) “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.”

God can bring it to pass Romans 4:21 (AMP) “being fully convinced that God had the power to do what He had promised.”

We need to trust God, who has made the promise. It might take a while for God to fulfil his promise. That’s where patience comes in. We can’t just sit around and wait; we need to actively hold on to the promises of God, declaring them by faith, regardless of the situation or challenge we are going through.

Hebrews 10:36-39 (AMP) “For you have need of patient endurance , so that when you have carried out the will of God, you may receive and enjoy to the full what is promised.”

When God makes a promise, He binds Himself to that promise. Every promise of God corresponds with His being. If God were to break any of His promises, He would have to act in contradiction to His own being – and that could never happen.

God’s promises are revealed in His Word. We get to know the promises by simply reading the Word and taking note of the promises that God makes in Scripture about various matters.

“Tarry at a promise and God will meet you there.” (D.L.Moody)

Armin Gesswein said: “Promises predict the answers to prayer.”
