DAY 3 — God Is Near to the Brokenhearted
Psalm 34:18 (NIV) “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Focus Thought: God is especially near in moments of pain or heaviness.
God does not distance Himself from pain—He draws near to it. Psalm 34:18 reveals the heart of a compassionate God who moves toward the brokenhearted rather than away from them. When hearts are heavy, wounded, or crushed by disappointment, God’s presence becomes a place of safety, comfort, and refuge. Awareness reminds us that suffering does not separate us from God; it often becomes the very place where He is most present.
In moments of pain, we may feel isolated or overwhelmed, yet Scripture assures us that God is close. He sees what is hidden, understands what words cannot express, and meets us in the depth of our emotions. Inviting God into places of hurt is not a sign of weakness—it is an act of trust. As we open these tender areas to Him, healing quietly begins its work.
God’s nearness does not always remove pain instantly or explain suffering, but it brings reassurance, strength, and hope. His presence steadies us when emotions feel unstable and reminds us that we are held, known, and loved. Brokenness becomes sacred ground where God’s grace is experienced most tenderly and His restoring work unfolds gently over time.
Today, allow yourself to acknowledge God’s closeness in every emotional space. You do not need to hide your pain or have it all together. God is near, attentive, and ready to carry what feels too heavy for you to bear alone.
Action for Today: Invite God into any area of hurt or discouragement.
Prayer: Father, thank You that You are close to me. I welcome You into my pain. Amen.
Reflection Question: What comfort did you sense when you welcomed Him in?
Journal Prompt: Write about how God’s nearness met you in a tender or difficult moment today.
