*DAY 5 — Humility Leads to Intimacy with God*
Psalm 25:9 (NIV) “He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.”
*Focus Thought: God speaks clearly to the humble*
God is not silent — but not everyone hears Him equally clearly. Scripture tells us that humility creates clarity. God guides the humble. He teaches the humble. In other words, humility is not just a moral virtue; it is a spiritual posture that makes the heart teachable and the ear sensitive.
Pride does not usually say, “I won’t listen to God.” Pride says, “I already know.” It assumes, it resists correction, and it prefers its own conclusions. Humility, on the other hand, comes to God with open hands and an open heart and says, “Lord, teach me. Show me. Lead me.”
God does not withhold guidance from His people — but He entrusts direction to those who are willing to follow. The humble are not those who think less of themselves; they are those who think less of themselves and more of God. They do not insist on their own way. They do not rush ahead of God. They are willing to be corrected, redirected, and instructed.
That is why God can guide them. A heart that is already decided cannot be led. A heart that is surrendered can be.
Humility keeps the heart soft. It keeps the conscience sensitive. It keeps the spirit responsive. When the heart is humble, God does not have to shout. He can whisper.
Pride argues with God. Humility listens.
Many people ask God for guidance, but not everyone is willing to receive it — especially if it challenges their plans. The humble are different. They want God’s way more than their own.
And because they are willing to follow, God is faithful to lead.
Action: Ask God to teach you His way in one specific area today.
Reflection: What direction or insight did you sense from Him?
Prayer: Father, I come before You with a teachable heart. I do not want to lean on my own understanding or insist on my own way. Make me humble, receptive, and responsive to Your voice. Guide me in what is right and teach me Your way. I want to walk in step with You and follow Your leading. Amen.
Journal Prompt: Where in my life do I most need God’s guidance right now, and is my heart truly open to follow Him even if His direction challenges my plans?
