20 December 2023 - Christmas shows divine involvement in the lives of people

God’s divine involvement in the lives of people is another reminder of the true meaning of Christmas. The Father let Jesus come to earth from the beginning of the cycle of life – infancy and let Him live to adulthood so that men would identify with Him and so that He could experience all that His people were going through. Jesus was made just like you.

1 Timothy 3:16(NET) And we all agree, our religion contains amazing revelation: He was revealed in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among Gentiles, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

A noteworthy passage pertinent to the divine purpose of Jesus coming in the flesh to this world is John 1:14(NET) Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his glory - the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father.

John 1:14 cannot be fully appreciated apart from verse one: John 1:1(NET) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God.

He who was one with the Father from all eternity became man, taking upon Him a human body. He was with God, He became flesh, He was with God, He dwelt among us - from the infinite position of eternal Godhood to the finite limitations of manhood! Unthinkable but true!

Galatians 4:4-5(NLT) But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children.

Philippians 2:5-10(NLT) You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

Matthew 20:28(NET) “just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Because Jesus became man, He has experienced the same things we do. Because He is man, He can identify with us more intimately. Because He is man, He can come to our aid as our sympathetic High Priest when we reach the limits of our human weaknesses. Because He is man, we can relate to Him - He is not far off and uninvolved. Because He is man, we cannot complain that God does not know what we are going through. He experienced it all.
