GOD’S SUDDENLY MOMENTS

• God is the God of “Suddenly”. In fact the word suddenly appears in the Bible 87 times.

• KJV Dictionary definition of SUDDEN: Happening without previous notice, coming unexpectedly or without the common preparative.

• Sooner than what is expected.

1.PAUL AND SILAS ’SUDDENLY’ MOMENT  ACTS 16:25-26

• Paul and Silas prayed and sing hymns of praise and worship to God in prison.

• This was no ordinary singing because the other prisoners heard them.

• They were shouting in prayer and singing.

• They were in pain and bound in chains BUT they worshipped their God.

• The dark dungeon was turned into the house of worship.

Singing, praising and shouting to the Lord takes our focus, our mind off ourselves, our pain and focuses to the Lord our God.

• I have discovered that the more I focus on my problems the bigger they grow, until they seem insurmountable.

• The more I focus on the Lord my God the smaller my problems become insignificant “SUDDENLY” VERSE 26

• They were caught in prayer and worship-suddenly there was a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison shaken.

• Their prayer and worship SHOOK THE HEAVENS, THE HEAVENSSHOOK THE EARTH AND THE EARTH SHOOK THE PRISON EVEN TO THE VERY FOUNDATION OF IT.

• The power of the earthquake was not from below but above as truly as the Pentecostal shaking on the day of Pentecost.

• This was not just a normal natural earthquake but a shaking that affected the foundation of prison and everybody’s chains were broken or became loose.

• As we continue to pray and call upon our God, there is a Spiritual intensity building in the spiritual realm of God that breeds the suddenly moment in our lives and environment.

• Our God dwells/inhabits in the praises of His people. PSALM 22:3

2. PETER’S SUDDENLY MOMENT

ACTS 12:5-7

• The suddenly moments of Apostle Peter in a prison.

• The church was praying and Peter was in prison- God intervenes.

• As the prayer went up to God the -suddenly moment was ushered in.

3.THE SUDDENLY MOMENT OF THE DAY OF PENTECOST ACTS 2:1-2

• The suddenly moment on the day of Pentecost.

• After the ascension of the Christ the church continued together in one place and in one accord in prayer.

• The suddenly moment of the baptism of the Holy Spirit was ushered in.

CONCLUSION

• In God’s suddenly moment: in Suddenly there are TWO KINDS OF TIMES that are at display in Greek language:

  • The CHRONOS-the normal clock time of minutes, hours days etc or calendar time.

• It is where we get our English word chronology. Chronos is sequential-Sequence.

  • The KAIROS – It refers to the opportune time .Kairos captures moments (critical moment).A special appointed time of God- that is determined by God.

• Even this morning as we continue to call and shout upon the Lord, He is hearing and watching. Our suddenly moment may just be in the twinkling of an eye and the situation will be completely transformed by His presence.
