Philippians 4:8 (NIV)”Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, “whatever is lovely”, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

To think upon that which is lovely, is to think upon things that push us toward God’s heart and nature. I am to think upon what the Bible says is pleasing, attractive, amiable. My mind is to be saturated with His tone, heart, character, and nature.

What does the Bible say about God’s nature?

Isaiah 40:28 (NKJV) “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.”

Revelation 19:6 (NLT) “Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder: “Praise the Lord! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.”

Job 9:4-10 (TLB) “’For God is so wise and so mighty. Who has ever opposed him successfully? 5 “Suddenly he moves the mountains, overturning them in his anger. 6 He shakes the earth to its foundations. 7 The sun won’t rise, the stars won’t shine, if he commands it so! 8 Only he has stretched the heavens out and stalked along the seas. 9 He made the Bear, Orion and the Pleiades, and the constellations of the southern Zodiac. 10 He does incredible miracles, too many to count.”

Isaiah 52:7 NASB “How lovely on the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who announces peace And brings good news of happiness, Who announces salvation, And says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

Psalm 135:3 NASB “Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; Sing praises to His name, for it is lovely.”

Most of us think that we really understand God, but our experience proves otherwise. We feel lonely, depressed, discouraged, and defeated. Every one of these negative emotions would be turned to positive by a proper revelation of God’s heart and nature.
