8 August Psalm 100

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord

This phrase is loaded with the recognition of what God has done for us and how we should praise Him. Let's begin by considering what God has done for us.

He made us, created us. He takes ownership of our lives – We are His people. We can rest in the fact that we are His. Psalm 100:3(NLT) Acknowledge that the LORD is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

The Lord is good. Goodness is in His character; it is who He is, just like love. It pours out of Him. His mercy is everlasting. He never gives up on us. He continues to cover us. Psalm 100:5(NLT) For the LORD is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.

Given God's goodness to us, how should we praise Him?

By making a joyful noise, as Psalm 100:1(NLT) says: Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth!

Through serving the Lord with gladness, coming before His presence with singing. Psalm 100:2(NLT) Worship the LORD with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy.

In entering His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise, being thankful to Him, blessing His name. Psalm 100:4(NLT) Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.

May we always make a joyful noise unto the Lord. May we give thanksgiving and praise for all that God has done for us, for He is good and gracious, He is kind and faithful, and His mercy is everlasting.
