Day 6 — God Entrusts More to the Faithful

1 Corinthians 4:1–2 (NIV) "This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful."

Focus Thought: One of the most important principles in the Kingdom of God is that everything God entrusts must also be stewarded. Nothing we possess ultimately belongs to us. Our salvation, our gifts, our family, our finances, our ministry, our influence, our opportunities, our time, and even our very breath are gifts entrusted to us by God.

Paul reminds the Corinthians that believers are "servants of Christ" and "those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed." He then gives one simple requirement: "It is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful." Notice that God does not require brilliance first. He does not first require popularity. He does not require extraordinary success first. He requires faithfulness. Faithfulness is Heaven's qualification. Hosting the Presence of God teaches us that we are not owners; we are stewards. Owners believe everything belongs to them. Stewards recognise that everything belongs to God. That single perspective changes how we live. When we believe something belongs to us, we naturally protect it.

When we understand that it belongs to God, we begin to ask, "Lord, how do You want me to use what You have entrusted to me?" Every day becomes an opportunity to steward His gifts well. Every decision becomes an opportunity to honour the One who entrusted them. This is why stewardship is such an important part of hosting God's Presence. The Presence of God continually reminds us that our lives are not centred around ourselves.

They are centred around Christ. Our talents are not for self-promotion. Our influence is not for personal advancement. Our finances are not simply for personal comfort. Our time is not ours to waste. Everything becomes an offering laid before the Lord. Throughout Scripture, God consistently entrusted greater responsibility to faithful people. Joseph faithfully managed Potiphar's household before managing Egypt. David faithfully cared for sheep before shepherding Israel. Joshua faithfully served Moses before leading a nation. Timothy faithfully served Paul before leading churches.

Even Jesus Himself demonstrated perfect faithfulness in every assignment given by His Father. God's pattern never changes. He prepares people through faithfulness before He enlarges their assignment. This is one of the reasons seasons of hidden service are so valuable. Many believers long for greater influence while overlooking the importance of present stewardship. Yet God is watching how we handle today's assignment. How faithfully do we pray? How faithfully do we love difficult people? How faithfully do we honour our commitments? How faithfully do we use our gifts? How faithfully do we manage our finances? How faithfully do we care for our families? How faithfully do we serve when no one notices? These hidden moments often determine future opportunities. Hosting God's Presence means understanding that no act of faithfulness is ever unseen.

The Father notices every hidden prayer. Every unseen sacrifice. Every quiet act of generosity. Every faithful decision.

Every private victory over temptation. Every moment of obedience. Nothing escapes His attention. Faithfulness is also deeply connected to trust. The more faithfully we steward what God has already entrusted to us, the more He knows we can be trusted with greater opportunities.

This is not because God needs proof for His own knowledge. He already knows our hearts. Rather, faithfulness develops the character necessary to carry greater responsibility without being destroyed by it. Character must always grow before influence. Otherwise, influence becomes dangerous. Hosting God's Presence continually shapes our character. The Holy Spirit teaches humility. Dependence. Integrity. Patience. Compassion. Perseverance.

Without these qualities, greater gifting often produces pride. But when our hearts remain surrendered, greater responsibility becomes another opportunity to glorify Christ. Faithfulness also requires continual evaluation. It is easy to assume we are stewarding well without ever asking the Lord to examine our hearts. David prayed, "Search me, God, and know my heart." That remains one of the healthiest prayers a believer can pray.

The Holy Spirit lovingly reveals areas that need adjustment, not to condemn us, but to prepare us for greater fruitfulness. Perhaps He wants us to become more disciplined with our time. More generous with our finances. More intentional with our relationships. More faithful in prayer. More diligent in serving. More courageous in using our gifts. These adjustments often seem small, but they prepare us for much greater Kingdom impact.

One of the beautiful truths about stewardship is that God never asks us to manage tomorrow's responsibilities today. He simply asks us to be faithful with today's opportunities.

Today's conversation. Today's assignment. Today's act of obedience. Today's prayer. Today's opportunity to love.

As we faithfully steward today, tomorrow remains safely in His hands. Hosting God's Presence frees us from striving for bigger opportunities. Instead, we become fully present in the opportunities already before us. We stop asking, "When will God give me more?" And begin asking,"Lord, how can I honour You with what You have already entrusted to me?" That is the heart of faithful stewardship. And it is the heart that Heaven delights to entrust with more.

Luke 12:48 (NIV) "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked."

Every gift carries responsibility. God entrusts His blessings to us not merely for our enjoyment but for His purposes. Faithful stewardship is the joyful response of a heart that recognises everything belongs to Him.

Action for Today: Take time today to prayerfully evaluate how you are stewarding what God has entrusted to you.

Consider these five areas:

• Your relationship with God.

• Your time.

• Your gifts and abilities.

• Your relationships and influence.

• Your finances and resources.

Ask the Holy Spirit to highlight one area that needs intentional growth. Then make one practical adjustment today. It may be setting aside more time for prayer. Being more intentional with your family. Using a neglected gift. Managing your finances with greater wisdom. Serving more consistently. Write down one specific action you will begin this week.

Reflection Question: As you honestly evaluated your stewardship today, which area of your life showed the greatest need for improvement? What practical step is the Holy Spirit inviting you to take to become a more faithful steward of His blessings?

Prayer: Father, thank You that everything I have comes from You. Every blessing, every opportunity, every relationship, every gift, and every moment of my life is evidence of Your grace. Forgive me for the times I have acted as though these things belonged to me, rather than recognising that they have been entrusted to me by You.

Teach me to become a faithful steward. Help me to honour You with my time. Help me to serve You with my gifts. Help me to lead with humility. Help me to love people faithfully. Help me to use every resource wisely. Holy Spirit, search my heart today. Reveal any area where I have become careless or complacent. Strengthen me to make the adjustments You desire. Give me the wisdom to manage every responsibility in a way that honours Jesus. Lord, I do not seek greater responsibility for my own significance. I seek only to be faithful with what You have already entrusted to me. If You choose to enlarge my influence, keep me humble. If You choose to increase my opportunities, keep me dependent upon Your Presence. Above all, help me to remain faithful until the day I stand before You. May every part of my life reflect the character of Christ. May every blessing You entrust to me become a blessing to others. May I never forget that I am first and foremost Your servant. And may I one day hear those precious words: "Well done, good and faithful servant." That is the reward I desire above every earthly achievement. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.

Write honestly about the following:

• What has God entrusted to me that I may have taken for granted?

• Which area of stewardship needs the greatest improvement?

• Have I been asking God for more while neglecting what I already have?

• How has hosting God's Presence changed my understanding of stewardship?

• What practical adjustment will I begin making today?

• How do I hope my life will reflect faithful stewardship five years from now?
