6 March 2023 - What is the fire of God?

  1. The Fire of God is the symbol of God’s nature

Hebrews 12:29 (AMP) For our God is a consuming fire.

Malachi 3:2 (NLT) “But who will be able to endure it when he comes? Who will be able to stand and face him when he appears? For he will be like a blazing fire that refines metal, or like a strong soap that bleaches clothes.

Isaiah 4:4 (NIV) The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire.

  1. The Fire of God is the symbol of God’s approval

The way that the people in the Old Testament knew that God accepted and approved a sacrifice was through the fire of God.

Leviticus 9:22-24 (NKJV) Then Aaron lifted his hand toward the people, blessed them, and came down from offering the sin offering, the burnt offering, and peace offerings. And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of meeting, and came out and blessed the people. Then the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people, and fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. When all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.

  1. The Fire of God is the symbol of God’s Presence

Zechariah 2:5 (AMP) For I,’ declares the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire around her , and I will be the glory in her midst.’”

Exodus 13:21-22 (AMP) The LORD was going before them by day in a pillar (column) of cloud to lead them along the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, so that they could travel by day and by night. He did not withdraw the pillar of cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from going before the people.

Be led by the fire of God. The fire led the people of Israel in the Wilderness. The fire had a guiding effect. That fire had an energising effect. The fire of God is a symbol of His presence.

Allow the fire of God into your life today and be led by his Spirit.
