In Job 36, Elihu continues his discourse, emphasising God's justice and righteousness. He asserts that God is righteous in His dealings, rewards the righteous, and punishes the wicked, urging Job to repent and seek God's guidance.
The Greatness of God
One way to grasp the greatness and glory of God is by studying the magnificent characteristics of the world He created. Job 36:26-33 (MSG) highlights God's infinite greatness and creative power, describing how He controls nature, from pulling water up from the sea to orchestrating lightning and thunder. The passage urges us to marvel at how God’s actions in creation point to His sovereignty, generosity, and loving care.
Psalm 19:1 (AMP) affirms that “the heavens are telling of the glory of God,” revealing God’s greatness through the expanse of the heavens and the work of His hands. God has revealed Himself through both His creation and His Word. Romans 1:19-21 (EASY) underscores how God’s eternal power and divine nature are visible in the world He made, leaving humanity without excuse for sin. Despite this, many fail to honour or thank God, resulting in foolishness.
Psalm 90:1-2 (EASY) emphasises God’s eternal existence, declaring that He was God before the earth was created and will continue to be God forever. His timeless nature sets Him apart from all creation. Not only has God numbered and named every star, but He also intimately knows each one of us. Psalm 139:16-18 (EASY) reveals how God knows our innermost being, His thoughts about us more numerous than the grains of sand.
God’s nature
God’s awe-inspiring nature, glory, and power are beyond human comprehension. We cannot fully describe or understand the magnitude of His presence. God is omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent—the sovereign Creator of all.
Finally, 1 Corinthians 2:9 (EASY) reminds us that the blessings God has prepared for those who love Him are beyond our imagination. His plans for us far exceed anything we could ever conceive.
