DAY 6 — Obedience Requires Courage

Scripture: Joshua 1:7 (NIV) “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.”

Focus Thought: Obedience often requires bravery and conviction.

Obedience is not always easy or comfortable. In Joshua 1, God speaks to a leader standing at the edge of promise and responsibility. Before Joshua steps into leadership and conquest, God calls him first to courage and careful obedience. Courage and obedience are inseparable—one sustains the other.

Obedience often demands bravery because it may place us at odds with fear, personal comfort, or the expectations of others. God’s Word challenges us to remain steady, not turning to the right or the left, even when pressure invites compromise. Courageous obedience means choosing faithfulness over popularity and conviction over convenience.

God’s promise of success is connected to obedience, not ease. Courage strengthens us to stay aligned with God’s Word when the path feels uncertain or costly. As we obey with courage, we discover that God’s presence goes with us, empowering us to walk confidently in His will.

Obedience rooted in courage deepens trust and shapes character. Each courageous step strengthens our faith and positions us to experience God’s faithfulness in new ways.

Action for Today: Choose to obey God today, even if it challenges your comfort, confronts fear, or goes against others’ opinions. Trust God with the outcome.

Prayer: Lord, strengthen my heart with courage today. Help me to obey You fully and faithfully, without compromise. Give me the conviction to follow Your Word wherever it leads. Amen.

Reflection Question: What act of obedience today required courage?

Journal Prompt: Write about a moment when obedience challenged your comfort or fears. How did choosing courage over convenience affect your faith and confidence in God?
