31 July Psalm 92

I am anointed with fresh oil for your service

Psalm 92:10(AMP) states: But my horn You have exalted like that of a wild ox; I am anointed with fresh oil .

The horn symbolises strength and power. When God calls us, He equips us for service. The Bible repeatedly shows that God calls individuals who seemingly lack the ability for the tasks assigned to them. Yet, He exalts them, akin to the might of a wild ox. Remarkably, He anoints us with fresh oil for service, symbolising the power of the Holy Spirit. I believe that the anointing, the power of the Holy Spirit, flows primarily when we serve. As the verse indicates, being anointed with fresh oil is synonymous with being prepared for God's service.

Many people pray for God to use them but fail to report for duty. It's only when we step forward to serve, pray for others, offer care, and make ourselves available in our local church that we truly experience the Holy Spirit's power in our lives.

Consider the example of Moses, called by God for the monumental task of leading the Israelites out of Egyptian slavery. Despite his initial reluctance and feelings of inadequacy, God equipped him for the task through the Holy Spirit's power.

This principle is echoed in Acts 1:8(AMP) But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth."

It underscores that God qualifies us for our calling through the Holy Spirit.

In essence, regardless of age, background, past actions, possessions, or lack thereof, God can and desires to work through us to glorify Himself on earth and draw more people to discipleship in Christ.
