DAY 3 — Make Space for His Presence
*Scripture:* Psalm 27:4 (NIV) “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
and to seek him in his temple.”
*Focus Thought: Hunger is revealed by what we make room for.*
David’s desire was not divided. He says, “One thing I ask… this only do I seek.” In a life filled with pressure, responsibility, and conflict, David learned the power of holy focus. His greatest longing was not for success, safety, or answers—but for God’s presence.
To dwell in God’s house speaks of remaining, abiding, and lingering. David was not satisfied with quick visits to God’s presence; he desired a life centred around it. He wanted to gaze—to slow down long enough to behold the beauty of the Lord. This kind of intimacy requires space.
God’s presence is not forced—it is hosted. And whatever we value most, we intentionally make room for. When our lives are too crowded, God is often the first to be squeezed out, not because He is unimportant, but because we assume He will always be there.
Silence creates space. Stillness sharpens hunger. When we quiet our souls, we become aware of how deeply we need Him. Making room for God is not about adding another activity—it is about removing enough noise to notice His nearness.
Action for Today: Set aside 10 minutes of silence before God. No music. No phone. No agenda.
Sit quietly in His presence and simply whisper: “Lord, I am here.”
Reflection Question: What shifted inside you as you were quiet before Him?
Prayer: Lord, help me to slow down and make space for You. Teach me to value Your presence above activity and noise. I want my life to be a dwelling place where You are welcomed and honoured. Amen.
Journal Prompt: What do I need to remove or rearrange in my life to make more room for God’s presence?
