With God, you will gain victory

King David and his army had just suffered losses in battle, and David believed their loss was evidence that God had rejected him. So, he pleads with God to restore him to his former strength.

Psalm 60:1(NLT) You have rejected us, O God, and broken our defenses. You have been angry with us; now restore us to your favor.

David understands that victory against his enemies is only possible if God accompanies him into battle once more. Only through God will his enemies be trampled.

Psalm 60:11-12(TLB) Yes, Lord, help us against our enemies, for man’s help is useless. With God’s help we shall do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes.

The Psalm begins with the Psalmist acknowledging his utter hopelessness without God. He realises that if God is against him, there is no hope. However, the Psalm concludes with a message of hope: God is for us. With God on our side, working with us and for us, we shall find encouragement. It is God who will tread down our foes, demonstrating His mighty power. Our need for God extends to every aspect of our lives, every day. All things are possible with God when you have faith. There is no request that is beyond God’s power.

Jeremiah 32:27(AMP) “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh; is there anything too difficult for Me?”

The Psalm, which begins with a note of defeat, ultimately concludes with a triumphant note of victory. Remember, with God, you will gain victory.

Romans 8:31(NIV) What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
