DAY 7 — Become Clay in the Potter’s Hands

Scripture: Isaiah 64:8 (NIV) “Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”

Focus Thought: Surrender reshapes you into the image of Christ.

Surrender reaches its deepest expression when we place our lives fully in God’s hands. Isaiah uses the image of the potter and clay to remind us that God is not only our Creator but also our loving Father who continues to shape us with care and purpose. Clay does not shape itself; it yields to the hands that form it.

Becoming clay in the Potter’s hands requires softness and trust. At times, God’s shaping may feel uncomfortable as He presses, refines, and reshapes areas of our hearts that resist change. Yet His hands are skilled and loving, never careless. Every adjustment is intentional, forming us more closely into the likeness of Christ.

Surrender allows God to remove what does not belong and strengthen what He desires to use. As we yield to His work, our lives become vessels shaped for His purpose and glory. True transformation happens not through striving, but through yielding—allowing God to do His work in us.

When we remain surrendered, we discover that being shaped by God is not something to fear, but a place of safety and growth. In His hands, we are formed with patience, grace, and deep love.

Action for Today: As you end your day, pray: “Lord, mould me into what pleases You.”

Rest in His presence and trust His shaping work in your life.

Prayer: Father, I place my life in Your hands. Shape my heart, refine my character, and form me into the image of Christ. I trust Your process and surrender fully to You. Amen.

Reflection Question: What part of your heart softened in God’s hands today?

Journal Prompt: Write about an area where you sensed God shaping or refining you this week. How did surrender change your perspective or response as He worked in your life?

WEEKLY DECLARATION

I surrender my will to God. I release pride, control, and self-reliance. I choose obedience, humility, and trust. God is the Potter, and I am the clay. My heart is fully His — and His Presence reigns in me.

Weekly outward application:

As we focused on obedience in the small things and surrender this week, ask the Holy Spirit to show you who you need to help in a practical way, physically giving them something or helping them with something. (For example, helping them fix something in their home or buying them groceries, or giving them a present)
