22 August Exodus 22

Be kind and fair to everyone

Exodus 22:21-24 (MSG) “Don’t abuse or take advantage of strangers; you, remember, were once strangers in Egypt. 22-24 “Don’t mistreat widows or orphans. If you do and they cry out to me, you can be sure I’ll take them most seriously; I’ll show my anger and come raging among you with the sword, and your wives will end up widows and your children orphans.

This verse highlights the importance of being kind and fair to vulnerable and often overlooked people. It teaches us to show compassion and justice to those close to us, strangers, and the less fortunate. The verse encourages us to be inclusive, caring, and just, particularly towards groups like foreigners, widows, and orphans. Deuteronomy 10:19 (AMP) “Therefore, show your love for the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt”.

This is confirmed I James 1:27 (ERV) “The worship that God wants is this: caring for orphans or widows who need help and keeping yourself free from the world’s evil influence. This is the kind of worship that God accepts as pure and good”.

We can help needy people by giving them food, shelter, and companionship. This can make a big difference in their lives and show them the love and care they deserve. Albeit ee can bring hope and comfort by offering a meal to someone hungry, a place to stay to someone without a home, or simply spending time with someone who feels lonely. Small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect, inspiring others to do the same and making our communities stronger and more compassionate. Let's commit to making the world a better place by reaching out and helping those in need.

I conclude with Hebrews 13:16 (ERV) “And don’t forget to do good and to share what you have with others, because sacrifices like these are very pleasing to God.”
