*DAY 5 — Worship Is a Sacrifice*
Hebrews 13:15 (NIV) “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.”
*Focus Thought: Sometimes worship costs us something.*
The Bible speaks of a sacrifice of praise because not all worship is convenient. Some worship is offered when the heart is full and joyful, but some worship is offered when the heart is heavy, tired, disappointed, or wounded. That is the worship that costs something.
Sacrificial worship is not driven by feelings; it is driven by faith. It says, “God, You are worthy even when I do not understand. You are worthy even when this hurts. You are worthy even when nothing around me seems to make sense.”
In the Old Testament, a sacrifice was something valuable placed on the altar. In the New Testament, our sacrifice is often our comfort, our mood, our pride, or our discouragement. When we choose to praise God in those moments, we place Him above our emotions and above our circumstances.
This kind of worship is powerful. Sacrificial praise breaks heaviness, shifts spiritual atmospheres, silences the voice of fear, and strengthens faith. It does not change God — it changes who reigns in our hearts. If it costs you nothing, it is not a sacrifice.
Action for Today: Offer God a sacrifice of praise, even if you don’t feel like it.
Reflection Question: What did you lay on the altar in worship today?
Prayer: Lord, I give You praise not only when it is easy, but because You are always worthy. I choose to honour You above my feelings and circumstances. Amen.
Journal Prompt: What did I surrender to God today in worship?
