Where God guides us, He will provide for us
Deuteronomy 2:7 (AMP) “For the Lord your God has blessed you in all [a]that you have done; He has known about your wanderings through this great wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing”’.
God reminded the Jews that they were a blessed people. He provided for them, even after they rebelled. He guided them by a visible pillar of light both by day and by night and He freed them from Egyptian bondage. God defeated the Amalekites in battle and He made water come out from a rock at Horeb. He also transformed the waters of Marah to provide drinking water. Finally, He provided both manna and quail. He also caused the waters to gush out of a rock at Meribah.
The people of God had no reason to doubt that He would provide for them as they prepared to enter the Promised Land. Isaiah 58:11 in the Amplified Bible says, “And the Lord will continually guide you, And satisfy your soul in scorched and dry places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail”.
“Guide,” as a verb, is defined by Merriam Webster as “to direct in a way or course, to supervise or influence usually to a particular end, or to superintend someone’s training or instruction.” As our heavenly Father, God does indeed guide us. We know that God leads us through both hard and easy times through prayer, obedience, and a relationship with Him confirmed in Isaiah 30:21 (AMP) “Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left”.
The verb “provides” is “to prepare to meet a need.
Where God guides, He provides” means that if we follow God’s guidance and leading, He will provide for our needs in the way He sees fit. Philippians 4:19 (AMP) “And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus”. Further confirmed in Psalm 104:14-15 (NLT) “You cause grass to grow for the livestock and plants for people to use. You allow them to produce food from the earth, wine to make them glad, olive oil to soothe their skin, and bread to give them strength.
For God to provide, we are to follow His guidance. That means walking in alignment with His ways and His will, following His direction and His leadership, and trusting Him. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (AMP) “for we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]”.
Germany Kent wrote: “Where God guides, He provides. No matter how things look, God is still in control. Stay in peace and be hopeful. Your blessing is coming soon.”
In conclusion, Deuteronomy 2 highlights the comforting truth that where God guides, He provides. Just as He led and sustained the Israelites in the wilderness, God continues to meet our needs when we follow His direction. His provision is constant, even in challenging times, where He promises to satisfy and strengthen us in dry places.
Our part is to walk by faith, trusting that God will supply all we need. When we align with His will, we can be confident that His provision is always at hand. Where God guides, He provides.
