DAY 1 — Worship Is Giving God His Worth

Psalm 29:2 (NIV) “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.”

Focus Thought: Worship is not about us — it is about giving God what He deserves.

The word worship literally means “to ascribe worth.” In other words, worship is the act of recognising, declaring, and responding to the true value of who God is. True worship is not centered on how we feel, what we need, or what we are going through — it is centered entirely on who God is.

We do not worship God because life is easy. We worship Him because He is worthy. His worth does not increase when our circumstances improve, nor does it decrease when our circumstances become difficult. God is worthy when we understand Him — and He is worthy when we do not. Heaven never waits for conditions to change before it worships; heaven worships because God is eternally glorious.

When we worship, we realign our hearts with reality. We step out of a self-centered universe and back into a God-centered one. We remind our souls that God is holy, God is glorious, God is supreme, and God is sovereign over everything. Worship recenters our perspective and restores order to our inner world.

This is why worship is so powerful: it does not change God — it changes us. It lifts our eyes off ourselves, our problems, and our limitations, and places them back where they belong — on Him. As long as God is small in our vision, our problems will feel big. But when God is exalted in our worship, everything else finds its proper size.

Worship is not performance. It is not a song style, an atmosphere, or a moment in a service. Worship is recognition. It is the heart bowing before truth and saying, “Lord, You are everything. You are above everything. You are worthy of everything.”

To worship is to put God back on the throne — not only of heaven, but of our hearts.

Action for Today: Start your day by verbally praising God for who He is — not for what He gives.

Reflection Question: What attribute of God did you honour today?

Prayer: Lord, I choose to worship You for who You are, not only for what You do. You are worthy of all honour and glory. Amen.

Journal Prompt: Which aspect of God’s character stood out to me today?
