Make the best use of your time
Ephesians 5:16(MSG) Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times!
The PHILLIPS translation says: Make the best use of your time, despite all the difficulties of these days.
Ephesians 5:16(NKJV) redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
The word ‘redeem’ here means ‘to buy up or to buy all that can be bought, not allowing a suitable moment to pass by unheeded’. Another way of saying this is: to make good use of time.
Our time is not our own. Every breath belongs to God. Every minute is His. Every day, He has given us. We must be good stewards of our time. Time is a precious commodity. Time has high value. Time is not our property! It is God’s and we must give account to Him for the use of every hour.
Time is a valuable commodity, and we must make the best use of it.
1 Chronicles 29:15(TLB) For we are here for but a moment, strangers in the land as our fathers were before us; our days on earth are like a shadow, gone so soon, without a trace.
“Time should not be spent; it should be invested in the kingdom of God.” -John Blanchard
Colossians 4:5(AMP) Conduct yourself with wisdom in your interactions with outsiders (non-believers), make the most of each opportunity .
Psalm 90:12 (TLB) Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should.
Redeeming time means that we are careful in how we live. We seize every opportunity and use it for God’s glory.
Luke 9:62(MSG) Jesus said, “No procrastination. No backward looks. You can’t put God's kingdom off till tomorrow. Seize the day.”
I conclude with: You have no guarantee that you will live tomorrow. Whatever you’re going to do, you better do it now.
