The righteous ones will live by faith
Hebrews 10:38-39(AMP) But My righteous one shall live by faith ; And if he draws back , My soul has no delight in him. But our way is not that of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who believe and by this confident faith preserve the soul.”
Romans 1:17(ESV) For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
Galatians 3:11(ESV) Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”
“Rabbi Simla noted that Moses gave 365 prohibitions and 248 positive commands.
David reduced them to eleven commands in Psalm 15(AMP) O Lord, who may lodge in Your tent? Who may dwell on Your holy hill? He who walks with integrity and strength of character, and works righteousness, And speaks and holds truth in his heart. He does not slander with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbour, Nor takes up a reproach against his friend; In his eyes an evil person is despised, But he honours those who fear the Lord . He keeps his word even to his own disadvantage and does not change it ; He does not put out his money at interest , And does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.
Isaiah made them six, Isaiah 33:14-15(AMP) The sinners in Zion are terrified; Trembling has seized the godless. “Who among us can live with the consuming fire? Who among us can live with everlasting burning?” He who walks righteously and speaks with integrity, Who rejects gain from fraud and from oppression, Who shakes his hand free from the taking of bribes, Who stops his ears from hearing about bloodshed And shuts his eyes to avoid looking upon evil
Micah bound them into three. Micah 6:8(AMP) He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you. Except to be just, and to love kindness (compassion), And to walk humbly with your God ? Habakkuk condensed them all to one, namely—'The righteous shall live by faith’ Habakkuk 2:4(AMP) Look at the proud one, His soul is not right within him, But the righteous will live by his faith .” -from P. L. Tan, Encyclopedia of 7700 illustrations. Garland, TX: Bible Communications, #1495.
At the moment of salvation, God declared us righteous and covered us in Christ's righteousness. In Him, we have all that we need to live a victorious life that honours the Lord. This can only be achieved through ongoing, progressive faith. We were justified by faith, and now we are to live a sanctified life by faith. Without saving faith, we cannot please God because we are spiritually dead in sin. God takes no pleasure in us, when we do not live by faith because He has clothed us in Christ's righteousness, sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in us, and provided us with His Word. We have no excuse to turn back to unbelief or fearfulness.
"One who lives by faith is a righteous person in the sight of God. The righteous live by trust." -RC Sproul
The key trait of the righteous is their unwavering trust in God and His promises. Even when God's actions may appear delayed, the righteous still believe and remain faithful to Him out of their profound loyalty. They may not be perfect, but they obey the Lord, because of their trust in Him. The righteous continually believe in the Lord, relying on His promises and striving to deepen their understanding of Him, thus strengthening their trust in Him.
I conclude with James 2:23(TPT) So in this way the Scripture was fulfilled: Because Abraham believed God, his faith was exchanged for God’s righteousness. So he became known as the lover of God!
