Help me quickly, Lord

Psalm 38:22(NIV) Come quickly to help me, my Lord and my Savior.

David's words here are like an emergency call. Instead of feeling comfy and safe, he feels in danger. In Psalm 38, David says he's sorry for doing wrong. He tells God he's sorry, asks for forgiveness, and asks God to help him right away. When he says Come quickly, it's like asking a close friend to hurry over when you need them.

Come quick! is what you say to someone you're really close to. When David says Lord, he's using a special name for God, like a nickname between close friends. This name means that God is always there, listening, and ready to help when things get tough.

Psalms 35:22(ESV) You have seen, O LORD; be not silent! O Lord, be not far from me!

Psalms 22:19(ESV) But you, O LORD, do not be far off! O you my help, come quickly to my aid!

Sometimes David asks God for help, but it feels like God doesn't answer right away. This makes David feel lonely. But many times, David remembers that God is always close by.

Psalms 145:18(ESV) The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Psalms 119:151(ESV) But you are near, O LORD, and all your commandments are true.

Even when things get really tough, David knows that God hasn’t forgotten about him: Psalms 22:24(NLT) For he has not ignored or belittled the suffering of the needy. He has not turned his back on them, but has listened to their cries for help.

In Closing, even when life gets tough and it feels like we're all alone, David's words remind us that God is always close by. Just like a best friend who rushes to help when we call, God is there, ready to listen and help. It's comforting to know that in our hardest moments, we're not alone. David's trust in God encourages us to also reach out and remember that God is always there, waiting to help us.
