DAY 6 — Worship Until Your Heart Softens

Scripture: Psalm 42:1 (NIV) “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.”

*Focus Thought: Worship awakens desire.*

Worship reconnects our hearts to what we truly need. The psalmist compares his longing for God to a deer desperately searching for water. This is not casual interest—it is a deep need. Worship gives language to that longing and draws it to the surface.

Often our hearts become hard, distracted, or tired—not because we do not love God, but because life weighs heavily on us. Worship softens what has grown rigid. It quiets the noise within and reawakens our desire for God’s presence.

True worship is more than singing songs; it is turning our full attention to God. As we focus on who He is, our hunger is stirred again. Worship lifts our eyes off ourselves and fixes them on Him, where our souls find refreshment.

When we worship, we are reminded that God alone can satisfy the thirst of our hearts. In His presence, hunger is renewed, desire is deepened, and love for Him is restored.

Action for Today: Play worship songs today. As you listen, set your heart on God’s nearness rather than the music itself.

Whisper this prayer: “Lord, draw me closer to You.”

Reflection Question: How did worship stir or soften your hunger for God today?

Prayer: Lord, I come before You with an open heart. Soften anything in me that has grown hard or distant. As I worship You, awaken fresh desire for Your presence and satisfy my soul with Your nearness. Amen.

Journal Prompt: What did I sense or experience in God’s presence during worship today?
