Making Jesus the Lord of Your Life

Romans 10:9-10(NIV) If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

The Message says in Romans 10:9 Say the welcoming word to God—“Jesus is my Master”—embracing, body and soul, God’s work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That’s it. You’re not “doing” anything; you’re simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you. That’s salvation. With your whole being you embrace God setting things right, and then you say it, right out loud: “God has set everything right between him and me!”

The Message Bible says it so nicely: say the welcoming word to God – “Jesus is my Master”. Thus, we are putting our lives in the hands of Jesus, submitting to Him as our Master. We are making Him the Master of our lives, submitting under His control, leadership, and guidance.

In NIV it says to declare that Jesus is Lord. So, what must we do? We must declare it and believe it. The Bible says in Matthew 12:34b(NIV) For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

Not only do we need to declare and believe that He is Lord and Master, but also that He has been raised from the dead. The resurrection of Jesus is at the heart of the Christian message. The resurrection amounts to the Father’s clear signal that Jesus is the powerful Son of God, who has conquered death and reigns as Lord of all.

Romans 1:4(NLT) and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord. Amazing to see the connection between Jesus being raised from the dead and His Lordship. If He has not been raised from the dead, He could not be our Lord or Master.

The resurrection demonstrates that Jesus’s ‘blood of the new covenant’ saves His people from their sins. Thus, we must declare and believe with our body and soul that Jesus is Lord and that He has died for our sins, been raised from the dead, accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour and we will be saved. As the Message Bible is quoted above: That’s it. You’re not “doing” anything; you’re simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you. That’s salvation. With your whole being you embrace God setting things right, and then you say it, right out loud: “God has set everything right between him and me!

Today, declare that Jesus is your Lord and believe that He has been raised from the dead.
