5 August Psalm 97

God is the Eternal and Most High

Psalm 97:9(VOICE) states: For You are the Eternal, the Most High, over the entire world; You far exceed all gods.

Exodus 18:11(NLT) acknowledges: I know now that the LORD is greater than all other gods, because he rescued his people from the oppression of the proud Egyptians."

Isaiah 43:10-13(NLT) proclaims: “But you are my witnesses, O Israel!” says the LORD. “You are my servant. You have been chosen to know me, believe in me, and understand that I alone am God. There is no other God—there never has been, and there never will be. I, yes I, am the LORD, and there is no other Savior. First, I predicted your rescue, then I saved you and proclaimed it to the world. No foreign god has ever done this. You are witnesses that I am the only God,” says the LORD. "From eternity to eternity I am God. No one can snatch anyone out of my hand. No one can undo what I have done.”

John Piper says: "We witness to the fact that God is God and there is no other: there never was and there never will be. He is simply absolute, there from all eternity, and never ceasing to be. Every creature will deal with him and render account."

The Bible reveals that the one true God is the sovereign, self-existent Creator of the universe. He is spirit, He is eternal, and He is personal. The one true God possesses all knowledge and all power, is present in all places, and is unchanging.

Most high means the very highest, higher than all other things. It’s what God is claiming for Himself. The most important thing to understand about God-Most-High is that, for whatever reason, He loves us and invites us into a deep relationship, caring enough to make a path to heaven for us through His son, Jesus Christ.

I conclude with John 17:3(ESV) And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
