Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (AMP) “Now it shall be, if you diligently listen to and obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all of His commandments which I am commanding you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. 2 All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you pay attention to the voice of the Lord your God.”
Experience God’s blessing by trusting Him
Romans 15:13 (AMP) “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.”
Obedience always brings blessing
Luke 11:28 (AMP) “But He said, “On the contrary, blessed (happy, favoured by God) are those who hear the word of God and continually observe it.”
Luke 5:4-5 (NIV) When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” 5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
Peter had worked the entire night for a catch but had returned empty-handed. Now Jesus was asking him to go fishing again? He caught nothing. He was an experienced fisherman. What would be different this time? Peter’s obedience is what would make all the difference. Peter understood that obedience always brings the blessing. Peter said: Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
Notice what happened because of Peter’s obedience. Jesus demonstrated his power. Peter thought their efforts had yielded nothing. But they pulled in nets that were overflowing. Obedience brings the blessing.
Luke 5:6-7 (NIV) “When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7 So they signalled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.”
Obeying God in small matters is an essential step in receiving God’s greatest blessings. Our Obedience always benefits others. When we obey God, we will never be disappointed.
“You cannot obey God without your obedience spilling out in a blessing to all those around you.” - Adrian Rogers
