DAY 4 — Feed Your Spirit with the Word
*Scripture:* Jeremiah 15:16 (NIV) “When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty.”
*Focus Thought:* The Word feeds your spiritual appetite.
Just as the body needs daily nourishment, the spirit also needs to be fed. Jeremiah describes God’s Word as food—something to be received, tasted, and taken in. He did not merely hear God’s words; he ate them. The Word became his joy and his delight because it sustained his inner life.
Spiritual hunger grows when we regularly feed on Scripture. When the Word of God is neglected, our spiritual strength weakens, and our hunger fades. But when we open God’s Word with expectation, it revives us, realigns us, and awakens fresh desire for Him.
God’s Word does more than inform us—it transforms us. It reminds us who God is and who we are: “for I bear Your name.” The Word anchors our identity, strengthens our faith, and fuels our pursuit of God.
If we feed on lesser things, our appetite for God will shrink. But when we consistently feed on Scripture, our hunger deepens, our joy increases, and our hearts are drawn closer to Him.
*Action for Today:* Read one Psalm slowly and prayerfully. Choose one verse that stands out to you and write it in your journal.
Ask the Holy Spirit to make His Word alive in your heart.
*Reflection Question:* What is God saying to you through His Word today?
*Prayer* Lord, give me a deep love for Your Word. Let it become my joy and my delight. Feed my spirit, renew my mind, and draw me closer to You as I spend time in Scripture. Amen.
*Journal Prompt* What verse spoke most clearly to my heart today, and why?
