God calls you for service
Exodus 31:1-6 (NIV) “Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts. Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given ability to all the skilled workers to make everything I have commanded you”.
After giving the instructions for the Tabernacle, God selected two people to serve as its chief builders: Bezalel from the tribe of Judah and Oholiab from the tribe of Dan. Like Bezalel and Oholiab, God has given us gifts to use as co-builders of His Church as instructed in 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV) “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms”. Furthermore Paul’s letter to the Roman’s confirms the gifts in Romans 12:6-8 (NIV) “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully”.
Furthermore, the fivefold ministry is accentuated in Ephesians 4:11-12 (NIV) “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up”. Confirmed by 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 (EASY) “The Holy Spirit helps us with different kinds of gifts. But it is the same Spirit who gives them. We serve the Lord in different ways, but all of us serve the same Lord. 6 We do different kinds of work. But it is the same God who helps us all to work in different ways. God helps each of us with a gift from his Spirit. He does that so that we can help others”.
Moses could not have built the Tabernacle on his own, he needed the help of others. Also you need to be connected to a church family to fulfil your calling to serve other believers in practical ways. 1 Corinthians 12:27 (NLT) All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it” God has called you to a service far beyond anything you could imagine. Ephesians 2:10 (GNT) “He has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do”
Whenever you serve others in any way, you are serving God.
