29 August Psalm 121

God is my Guardian

Psalm 121:1-8(MSG) I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from GOD, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains. He won’t let you stumble, your Guardian God won’t fall asleep. Not on your life! Israel’s Guardian will never doze or sleep. GOD’s your Guardian, right at your side to protect you— Shielding you from sunstroke, sheltering you from moonstroke. GOD guards you from every evil, he guards your very life. He guards you when you leave and when you return, he guards you now, he guards you always.

God is my Guardian, this Psalm eloquently illustrates this: I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains… This Psalm is truly inspirational. My help comes from the Lord, and He is not just a source of help; He vigilantly watches over me. He is my Guardian.

As defined by the Cambridge Dictionary, a guardian is a person who has the legal right and responsibility of taking care of someone who cannot take care of himself or herself.

The Bible asserts that God is our Guardian, endowed with the legal right and responsibility to take care of us. In this Psalm, God’s role as our Guardian is vividly depicted: He won’t let us stumble, He will watch over us every hour of the day, standing by our side to protect us, guarding us against all evil, and overseeing our entire lives. What an incredible promise – God is your Guardian.

Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, God has us under His watchful care. God is my Guardian – regardless of the challenges we encounter in this world, God stands with us, casting His light into the darkness and providing all we need for life and godliness.
