28 May 2024 - Psalm 28

"God, today, please listen; don't turn a deaf ear.”

Sometimes, as we pray, it seems to us that God is slow in answering, or maybe He's just ignoring us.

We see this here in this Psalm too. David cries out in Psalm 28:1-2(NLT) I pray to you, O LORD, my rock. Do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you are silent, I might as well give up and die. Listen to my prayer for mercy as I cry out to you for help, as I lift my hands toward your holy sanctuary.

Psalm 83:1(NLT) O God, do not be silent! Do not be deaf. Do not be quiet, O God. “Lord, are you hearing me? Why are you silent? Please listen to me. Don't you see me calling to you?

Having poured out his heart to God, however, we see the joy flooding back into David's heart. Why? Because he knew God had heard him and that He listened to his prayers.

Psalm 28:6-7(NLT) Praise the LORD! For he has heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

Psalm 66:18–20(NASB95) If I regard wickedness in my heart, The Lord will not hear; But certainly God has heard; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer Nor His lovingkindness from me.

Isaiah 59:1(MSG) Look! Listen! GOD's arm is not amputated—he can still save. GOD's ears are not stopped up—he can still hear. 26

What stood out for me from the Psalm is that God always hears our prayers. Hearing it does not mean that God always answers our prayers or gives us what we ask for, but what I do know is that God always hears. And the fact that He hears our prayers means He knows about us and will always do what is best for each of us.

Today, remember God is not deaf; He has heard your prayer, and He will do what is best for you, that is ENOUGH!
