I will sing about your power

This Psalm outlines the problems, difficulties, troublesome times, and enemies that surrounded David on every side. He wrote this Psalm when Saul's hatred of him began, and the king sought out ways to murder David.

David opened his heart to the Lord and prayed for help. We all face troubles in our lives. We face daily stresses in our workplace, our finances, our health, and family matters. Each new morning as we start our day, we can rely on God as our defence, our refuge in times of trouble and stress, He will place a song of joy in our hearts. Our hearts will turn from sadness to singing.

Psalm 59:16-17(NLT) But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love.

The murdering dogs howl in the street, but David will sing of God’s power and mercy. They waited for him in the evening, but David was confident that with God as his defence and refuge, he would survive until morning and survive singing.

Psalms 59:14-15(NKJV) And at evening they return, They growl like a dog, And go all around the city. They wander up and down for food, And howl if they are not satisfied.

David’s heart was filled with songs of praise instead of dark fears. He starts the Psalm asking God for His defence, at the end of the Psalm he was so confident that God was his defence that he could sing about it.

God has always been there for him before and will continue to be with him. God is faithful, meaning that during this time of trouble, David knows that God is still with him. The same applies to you, God has always been there for you before and will continue to be with you, therefore we should sing songs of praise to God instead of fear. In praising God lies your strength and victory. But for me, I will sing about the power of God.
