26 July Genesis 45

Not you but God

Genesis 45:8 (AMP) “So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh and lord of all his household and ruler over all the land of Egypt”.

Joseph realises that his brothers meant evil, but God meant it for good. Questions may arise as we journey through life in a fallen world, but the conclusion is clear: Trust in Christ. Genesis 50:20 (NASB) “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive”.

Remember this reminder if you are going through a difficult season: God will somehow turn it around for good. He is faithful to His Word and deeply cares for you. Trust that He will see you through. You will emerge from the darkness, and perhaps the kingdom will impact many lives because of your struggle.

God keeps His word, no matter how seemingly impossible the fulfilment might be. God had promised that the sons of Israel would be blessed and that they would be a mighty nation. If the sons of Israel had perished in the famine, as they certainly would have without Joseph's intervention, God's covenant promises would have been broken, making Him appear untruthful. However, God upheld His word, even using the unrighteous actions of others to fulfil His plan. What they intended for evil, God intended for good. God is in control and is always trustworthy.

Joseph trusted in God, which allowed him to understand God's bigger plan and forgive his brothers. Despite the great harm they caused him, God did not abandon Joseph. Instead of responding with hate and anger, Joseph responded with love and forgiveness, becoming a blessing to those who intended to destroy his life. He realised that what his brothers meant for evil, God meant for good.

Today I would like to conclude with Psalms‬ ‭62‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭(TPT)‬‬ “I am standing in absolute stillness, silent before the one I love, waiting as long as it takes for him to rescue me. Only God is my Saviour, and he will not fail me. For he alone is my safe place. His wraparound presence always protects me as my champion defender. There’s no risk of failure with God! So why would I let worry paralyze me, even when troubles multiply around me? God’s glory is all around me! His wraparound presence is all I need, for the Lord is my Saviour, my hero, and my life-giving strength. Trust only in God every moment! Tell him all your troubles and pour out your heart-longings to him. Believe me when I tell you, he will help you! Pause in his presence”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
