26 December Joshua 12

Trusting God Brings the Victory

Joshua 12:7 (AMP) “These are the kings of the land whom Joshua and the sons of Israel defeated on the west side of the Jordan, from Baal-gad in the Valley of Lebanon to Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir. Joshua gave their land to the tribes of Israel as a possession according to their divisions.”

From verse 8 to verse 24, we read about 31 kings who were defeated and handed over to Joshua and the people of Israel. Who gave them these victories? God did! He gave them win after win in the land He had promised. Why? Because Joshua and the Israelites trusted God.

This is a picture of how God’s grace works—how His power moves for His people when they have faith in Him. In Numbers 13 & 14, the previous generation didn’t trust God to give them the promised land, so they never received it. They wandered until they died. But now, this new generation received the land—not because they had the strongest army or the smartest plans, but because they trusted and obeyed God.
