25 June 2021 - When you in a crisis, focus on the goodness of God

When you in a crisis, focus on the goodness of God. The more you focus on the goodness of God the smaller your crisis becomes. Remember God is greater than any crisis you may have.

Nahum 1:7 (NLT) “The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him”

Psalm 34:8 (NLT) “Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!”

Psalm 100:5 (NLT) “For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.”

1 Chronicles 16:11 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows,”.

Ps. 31:19-20 says, "How great is Your goodness that You have stored up for those who fear You and accomplished in the sight of everyone for those who take refuge in You. You hide them in the protection of Your presence; You conceal them in a shelter from the schemes of men, from quarrelsome tongues. God has great goodness stored up for you. Take your refuge in Him. Rest there. He is up to more than you know and has hidden help that only comes when you give it up to Him."

Focusing on God’s goodness, gives you perspective on your darkest days when you need it the most. Focusing on God doesn’t mean we ignore the problem. It means we put the emphasis on the God who can solve the problem. When we are tempted to let our problems lead us into despair, we can choose to think about God’s goodness instead.

"…the goodness of God is the highest object of prayer and it reaches down to our lowest need." Julian of Norwich

"As it is impossible to verbally describe the sweetness of honey to one who has never tasted honey, so the goodness of God cannot be clearly communicated by way of teaching if we ourselves are not able to penetrate into the goodness of the Lord by our own experience." Saint Basil

I conclude with Psalm 145:9 (NLV) “The Lord is good to all. And His loving-kindness is over all His works.”

Have a day filled with God’s goodness.
