25 January 1 Timothy 6

Go after God 1 Timothy 6:17-19(MSG) Tell those rich in this world’s wealth to quit being so full of themselves and so obsessed with money, which is here today and gone tomorrow. Tell them to go after God, who piles on all the riches we could ever manage—to do good, to be rich in helping others, to be extravagantly generous. If they do that, they’ll build a treasury that will last, gaining life that is truly life.Philippians 4:19(MSG) You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus. Psalm 16:2(NIV) reads: I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”Proverbs 11:28(NASB95) He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like the green leaf.Rather than trusting in riches, we are to fix our hope on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. God provides far more security than any earthly investment. The highest form of joy for the Believer is to bring glory to the Lord.True godliness will be ever accompanied by contentment, and those who have significant wealth are to remain humble, give generously, and recognise that God is the ultimate source of all they have.Paul tells the rich that God richly provides us with everything to enjoy.1 Timothy 6:18(TLB) Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and should give happily to those in need, always being ready to share with others whatever God has given them. The other three purposes of wealth help clarify how we can enjoy what God has provided without setting our hope on it. The three purposes are: to do good, to be rich in good works, and to be generous and ready to share.2 Corinthians 9:11-15(NCV) He will make you rich in every way so that you can always give freely. And your giving through us will cause many to give thanks to God. This service you do not only helps the needs of God’s people, it also brings many more thanks to God. It is a proof of your faith. Many people will praise God because you obey the Good News of Christ—the gospel you say you believe—and because you freely share with them and with all others. And when they pray, they will wish they could be with you because of the great grace that God has given you. Thanks be to God for his gift that is too wonderful for words.Psalm 20:7(NLT) Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the LORD our God.I conclude with Psalm 125:1(TLB) Those who trust in the Lord are steady as Mount Zion, unmoved by any circumstance.
