The best place

Psalm 84:10-12(MSG) One day spent in your house, this beautiful place of worship, beats thousands spent on Greek island beaches. I’d rather scrub floors in the house of my God than be honored as a guest in the palace of sin. All sunshine and sovereignty is GOD, generous in gifts and glory. He does not skimp on his traveling companions. It’s smooth sailing all the way with GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies.

This Psalm celebrates the joy of fellowship with God and remarks that even a day in His courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. Because of God’s greatness and His goodness, anyone who lives in fellowship with Him is greatly blessed and has every reason to constantly praise Him.

Psalms 84:10(ESV) For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Being in God's presence is wonderful. No matter what beauty you have seen on this earth, it will not compare to the beauty in God. Only God can bring us true peace, love, and joy.

Even a moment in the presence of God is far greater than a lifetime apart from Him. The Psalmists say that they would rather stand outside of God’s house—in His courts, serving Him—than dwell in luxury inside the tents of the wicked. By spending time in God’s presence, we get re-centred, which helps us to live the rest of our lives in ways that honour God.

Serving God brings blessings. Psalm 84:11(NLT) For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.

For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere!
