O God, do not remain silent

Psalm 83 begins with a bold request, Psalm 83:1(NIV) O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God.

Not once in this Psalm does the Psalm writer speak of his own problems or issues. He is deeply concerned about what is happening to the people of God. Israel’s enemies are scheming against them, seeking to wipe them out.

Psalm 83:2-4(NLT) Don’t you hear the uproar of your enemies? Don’t you see that your arrogant enemies are rising up? They devise crafty schemes against your people; they conspire against your precious ones. “Come,” they say, “let us wipe out Israel as a nation. We will destroy the very memory of its existence.”

Psalm 83 inspires us not only to focus on our own needs and issues, but to pray for others.

Galatians 6:2(MSG) says: Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law.

James 5:16-17(MSG) Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed. The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.

We do the will of God when we pray for others. We must remember that we are a family in the Lord, and God has given us this incredible privilege to pray for each other. So, let’s pray for each other.
