WEEK 4 – SURRENDER: “Give Our Hearts to God”

“My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart You, God, will not despise.” — Psalm 51:17 (NIV)

Surrender is the gateway to transformation. When we yield our lives fully, His Presence flows freely. God cannot fill what’s full of self. True surrender is not losing control but giving it to the One who knows best.

Practical Application:

• Each morning, lift your hands and say, “Lord, I yield my plans, my pride, and my preferences to You.”

• Choose obedience in small things — that’s where surrender begins.

• Ask God to use every challenge to deepen your dependence on Him.

Prayer: Father, I lay my will before Your throne. Break every prideful area in me and make me pliable clay in Your hands. Let Your Presence rule my heart completely. Amen.

DAY 1 — Surrender Begins with Trust

Scripture: Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV) “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Focus Thought: You cannot surrender to a God you do not trust.

Surrender is not the loss of control—it is the decision to place your life in trustworthy hands. Proverbs 3 reminds us that true surrender begins with trust, not understanding. God does not ask us to have all the answers; He asks us to trust Him with all our hearts.

Leaning on our own understanding often feels safer because it keeps us in control. Yet Scripture invites us to a deeper posture—one where we submit every part of our lives to God. This kind of surrender is relational, not forced. It flows from confidence in God’s character, wisdom, and faithfulness.

When we trust God fully, surrender becomes an act of faith rather than fear. As we yield our plans, decisions, and direction to Him, God promises to make our paths straight—not always easy, but guided, purposeful, and aligned with His will.

Action for Today: Begin your day by lifting your hands and praying: “Lord, I yield my plans to You.” Consciously place your schedule, decisions, and concerns into God’s care.

Prayer: Lord, I choose to trust You with all my heart today. Help me to release control and to submit every part of my life to You. Lead me, guide me, and make my path clear as I walk in trust and surrender. Amen.

Reflection Question: What area of your life are you still trying to manage on your own?

Journal Prompt: Write about an area where trust feels difficult right now. What fears or questions are holding you back from full surrender? What would it look like to place that area completely in God’s hands today?
