21 July 2022 - A Fierce Storm

Mark 4:37 (AMP) “And a fierce windstorm began to blow, and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already being swamped.”

When Job's hope had vanished, God came in the power and strength of a storm to Job. Seated on an ash heap, scraping his sores, and lamenting his loss, Job repeatedly called out to God. He sought his day in court to argue his innocence before God. With great self-righteous confidence he cried out in protest to the Lord.

Job 31:35-37 (NLT) “If only someone would listen to me! Look, I will sign my name to my defence. Let the Almighty answer me. Let my accuser write out the charges against me. 36 I would face the accusation proudly. I would wear it like a crown. 37 For I would tell him exactly what I have done. I would come before him like a prince.”

All of Job's protests fell silent the day God answered Job out of a violent storm.

Job 38:1-6 (MSG) And now, finally, God answered Job from the eye of a violent storm. He said: “Why do you confuse the issue? Why do you talk without knowing what you’re talking about? Pull yourself together, Job! Up on your feet! Stand tall! I have some questions for you, and I want some straight answers. Where were you when I created the earth? Tell me, since you know so much! Who decided on its size? Certainly you’ll know that! Who came up with the blueprints and measurements? How was its foundation poured, and who set the cornerstone”

Job quickly realises that God is in control, He is the God that will see him through the storm.

Job 40:1 (NLT) Then the Lord said to Job, 2 “Do you still want to argue with the Almighty? You are God’s critic, but do you have the answers?” Job Responds to the Lord. 3 Then Job replied to the Lord, 4 “I am nothing—how could I ever find the answers? I will cover my mouth with my hand. 5 I have said too much already. I have nothing more to say.”

Amazing after Job met God in the storm, he realises that there is nothing that God cannot do.

Job 42:1 (NLT) “Then Job replied to the Lord: 2 “I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop you.”

Nahum 1:3 (ESV) 3b “His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.”

Today, know that God will take you through the storm. Know that he can do anything, and no one can stop him.
