Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only
Luke 4:8(NIV) Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’”
Deuteronomy 6:13(AMP) You shall fear the LORD your God; and you shall serve Him and swear by His name .
Joshua 24:15(ESV) And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Psalm 100:2(ESV) Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!
To serve God, is to love Him with all that we are, obeying, and enjoying Him forever.
Serve God in truth - John 4:24(NIV) God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
Serve God in love - Matthew 22:37-40(NLT) Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
Serve God with joy - Philippians 4:4(NLT) Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!
Serve God with determination - John 12:25-26(NLT) Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity. Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.
Serve the Lord in humility - Luke 17:10(NLT) In the same way, when you obey me you should say, ‘We are unworthy servants who have simply done our duty.’”
I conclude with Matthew 23:11-12(MSG) “Do you want to stand out? Then step down. Be a servant. If you puff yourself up, you’ll get the wind knocked out of you. But if you’re content to simply be yourself, your life will count for plenty.
