The Lord surrounds his people

Psalm 125:2(NIV) As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people both now and forevermore.

Jerusalem had natural fortifications in the surrounding mountains. These mountains not only sheltered it from winds and tempests, breaking their force but also provided a formidable barrier against enemies. Similarly, God's providence acts as a defence for His people.

Job 1:10(NIV) “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.

This promise assures us that God will eternally protect His people. The essence of this promise is captured in Psalm 125:1(MSG) Those who trust in GOD are like Zion Mountain: Nothing can move it, a rock-solid mountain you can always depend on.

By placing our trust in the Lord, we are encompassed by His care, goodness, favor, and blessings. This trust ensures that we remain steadfast and immovable.

I conclude with Zechariah 2:5(TLB) For the Lord himself will be a wall of fire protecting them and all Jerusalem; He will be the glory of the city.
