When you are at the end of your rope

When you find yourself at the end of your rope, consider the words of Psalm 79:8-9(MSG) Don’t blame us for the sins of our parents. Hurry up and help us; we’re at the end of our rope. You’re famous for helping; God, give us a break. Your reputation is on the line. Pull us out of this mess, forgive us our sins— do what you’re famous for doing!

How often have we found ourselves in situations where we are at the end of our rope? In such times, we typically have three options: try to climb back up, hang on in hope of an eventual rescue, or give up and let go. Unfortunately, none of these options are truly helpful.

Then, we encounter this verse in Matthew 5:3(MSG) “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.

At the end of your rope, when you realise there's nothing more you can do, you need a supernatural intervention from God. In such situation, the Bible says that you are blessed. You have a helpline. So, when you are at the end of the rope, you are blessed, because at this point, you realise you must let go of all your efforts and plans and place them in the hand of God. Less of you and more of God.

A.W. Tozer insightfully stated: “The reason why many are still troubled, still seeking, still making little forward progress is because they haven’t yet come to the end of themselves. We’re still trying to give orders and interfering with God’s work within us.”

If you’re at the end of your rope, you’re in a good place for God to bless you. Humbly admit your need for God and make room for His power to rescue you.
