15 January Colossians 3

Always do your best as the Lord’s servant

Colossians 3:17(VOICE) Surely, no matter what you are doing (speaking, writing, or working), do it all in the name of Jesus our Master, sending thanks through Him to God our Father.

Colossians 3:23-24(VOICE) So no matter what your task is, work hard. Always do your best as the Lord’s servant, not as man’s, because you know your reward is the Lord’s inheritance. You serve the Lord, the

Anointed One, Colossians 3:17(AMPC) And whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him.

This means that we are called to conduct ourselves and carry out our actions in a manner that honours and represents the Lord Jesus Christ. Doing everything in the name of Jesus involves living a life that is surrendered to Him and seeking to bring honour and glory to His name in all that we do. It requires a conscious effort to align our thoughts, words, and actions with His character. Through prayer, studying His Word, and relying on the Holy Spirit, we can continually grow in our ability to represent Him well in every aspect of our lives.

Galatians 2:20(ESV) I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Ephesians 5:1-2(ESV) Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

1 Peter 2:21(ESV) For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.

To glorify God requires full commitment to Him. Glorifying God in everything means we honour Him in our thoughts and actions. Our thoughts are to be set on the things of God and the Word of God. When we focus on God’s Word, we know what is right and can follow through with doing what is right.

I conclude with: Always do your best as the Lord’s servant, encourages us to approach every task, responsibility, and relationship with a mindset of diligence, excellence, integrity, and dependence on God. It reminds us that our efforts should reflect our love for God and our desire to honour Him in all areas of life.
