WEEK 20 – COMPASSION
“God’s Heart Revealed”
Colossians 3:12 (NIV) “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
Compassion is not just an attribute of God; it is the expression of His heart in action. When you host the presence of God, you begin to feel what He feels and respond the way He responds. Compassion is how God’s presence becomes visible through your life.

DAY 1 — Compassion Begins with Seeing People Through God’s Eyes
Matthew 9:36 (NIV) “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”
Focus Thought: Compassion begins with sight, but not natural sight, spiritual sight.
The Bible says, “When He saw the crowds…” This was not just a glance; it was a deep, intentional seeing. Jesus did not see people as a crowd; He saw individuals with pain, confusion, and need. Most people move through life quickly. We see people, but we do not truly notice them. We pass by needs without recognising them because we are distracted, busy, or focused on ourselves.
But hosting God's presence changes how you see. When you carry His presence, your spiritual awareness increases. You begin to see beyond outward appearances and recognise the deeper condition of people’s hearts.
Jesus saw: The broken behind the smile. The weary behind the routine. The lost behind the crowd. Compassion is born when you slow down enough to see what God sees. If you do not see, you will not feel. If you do not feel, you will not act.
This is why compassion begins with attention. Hosting God’s presence requires intentional awareness. You must ask: “Lord, help me see people the way You see them.”
When you see through His eyes, Judgment is replaced with understanding. Indifference is replaced with care. Distance is replaced with connection. Compassion flows when your heart aligns with His heart. And when compassion flows, His presence is revealed.
1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV) But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
“When you see people the way God sees them, you will love them the way God loves them.” — Bill Johnson
Action for Today: Slow down intentionally today. Ask God to highlight one person to you and truly see them.
Reflection Question: Who did God make you aware of today, and what did you notice when you slowed down?
Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to see people the way You see them. Remove distraction and self-focus from my life. Let my heart be moved with compassion as Yours is. Amen.
Journal Prompt: Where in your daily life are you too busy to truly see people?
