God’s words are true

In Psalm 12, David expresses concern about the wicked and distinguishes them by their words.

*The words of the wicked are: Worthless - Psalm 12:2a(AMP): They speak deceitful and worthless words to one another; In the New Testament, such language is referred to as godless chatter. It doesn't edify but is mere idle talk. As Paul warns in 1 Timothy 6:20(AMP): O Timothy, guard and keep safe the deposit entrusted to you, turn away from worldly and godless chatter , and the contradictions of what is falsely called 'knowledge'-

Flattering - Psalm 12:2b(AMP): With flattering lips and a double heart they speak. The wicked use flattery to exploit the innocent.

Deceitful - These are words spoken with a double intent. Individuals may say something kind to you but speak ill of you behind your back.

Boastful - Psalm 12:3(AMP) emphasizes: May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, The tongue that speaks great things . Furthermore, the pride of the wicked is evident in Psalm 12:4(AMP): Who have said, ‘With our tongue we will prevail; Our lips are our own; who is lord and master over us?’

*The words of the Lord: In contrast to the deceitful and empty words of the wicked, the words of God are pure and valuable. Psalm 12:6(NKJV) proclaims: The words of the LORD are pure words, Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, Purified seven times. And the Amplified translation reinforces this sentiment. Psalm 12:6(AMP) states: The words and promises of the LORD are pure words, Like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times.

David concludes here with the comforting, reassuring promises of the Lord in Psalm 12:7(AMP): You, O LORD, will preserve and keep them; You will protect him from this generation forever.

David begins the Psalm by addressing the deceitful words of the wicked, contrasts them with the pure and trustworthy words of God, and concludes with God's promise of protection.
