DAY 3 — The Anointing Teaches and Guides
John 14:26 (NIV) "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."
Focus Thought: One of the greatest gifts of the anointing is divine guidance.
The Holy Spirit is not merely a power that enables us to do God's work; He is also a Teacher who helps us understand God's ways. Jesus promised His disciples that the Holy Spirit would teach them all things and remind them of everything He had spoken. This means that God never intended His children to navigate life alone. The anointing is not only for preaching, ministry, miracles, or public service. It is also for daily living. The Holy Spirit wants to guide your decisions. He wants to direct your relationships. He wants to give wisdom concerning your family. He wants to provide insight regarding your calling. He wants to help you understand Scripture. He wants to reveal the heart of the Father.
Hosting God's Presence means living with an awareness that the Holy Spirit is constantly available to teach and guide you. Many believers live beneath this privilege. When faced with challenges, they immediately seek human solutions before seeking divine wisdom. While godly counsel is valuable, there are moments when only the Holy Spirit can reveal the answer you need. Human wisdom is limited. God's wisdom is unlimited. Human understanding sees the present. God sees the beginning and the end. Human knowledge is based on information. God's wisdom is based on perfect understanding. This is why the anointing is so valuable. The Holy Spirit sees what you cannot see. He knows what is hidden. He understands motives. He understands timing. He understands consequences. He understands opportunities. And He desires to guide you into truth.
Hosting the presence of God creates an environment where divine instruction becomes clearer. The more time you spend with God, the easier it becomes to recognise His voice. Jesus said that His sheep know His voice. This familiarity develops through a relationship. The Holy Spirit often teaches through scripture that comes alive in your heart. A quiet impression during prayer. A gentle conviction. Divine insight and understanding. Wisdom that suddenly becomes clear. A reminder of God's promises. A sense of peace regarding a decision.
Many believers are waiting for dramatic direction while overlooking the Holy Spirit's daily guidance. Yet some of God's greatest guidance comes through simple promptings that require faith and obedience. The anointing teaches us because the Holy Spirit desires more than our success. He desires our transformation. His goal is not simply to help us make better decisions.
His goal is to help us become more like Christ. Every time we listen to His voice, our relationship deepens. Every time we obey His instruction, our discernment grows. Every time we follow His leading, we become more effective in fulfilling God's purpose for our lives. The anointing is God's invitation to live with heavenly wisdom in an earthly world.
Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV) "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
God never intended you to rely solely on your own understanding. He has given you the Holy Spirit to teach, guide, and direct every step of your journey.
"The Holy Spirit is the greatest Teacher the believer will ever have." — Billy Graham
Action for Today: Ask the Holy Spirit a specific question about an area of your life where you need wisdom or direction. Spend time listening and writing down any thoughts, scriptures, or impressions He brings to your heart.
Reflection Question: What insight, scripture, conviction, or direction did the Holy Spirit reveal to you today?
Prayer: Holy Spirit, thank You for being my Teacher and Guide. Help me to recognise Your voice above every other voice. Teach me Your ways and give me wisdom beyond my natural understanding. Let Your anointing lead me into truth and help me walk in obedience to Your guidance. Amen.
Journal Prompt: What area of your life currently requires God's wisdom? What do you believe the Holy Spirit is teaching you about that situation?
