10 May 2024 - Psalm 10

Arise and shine

Psalm 10:1(GNT) says: Why are you so far away, O Lord? Why do you hide yourself when we are in trouble?

In Psalm 10, people are asking God why bad people seem to be doing so well. They feel like everything's gone wrong and like God's not there. Bad people are making choices based on pride and wanting to do wrong things. The good people feel that this isn’t fair The writer of the Psalm is asking: Lord, where are You? It's like they're surrounded by mean people and they can't feel God around them.

But we're not alone. Jesus has felt pain too. He knows what we're going through. Hebrews 2:18(TLB) says: For since he himself has now been through suffering and temptation, he knows what it is like when we suffer and are tempted, and he is wonderfully able to help us.

When bad things happen, it feels like God's hiding. But God sees tough times differently than we do. For us, problems seem bad. But God sees them as chances for us to learn and grow. So, when things get hard, we should pray, trust God, try to understand, learn from it, and make things right if we've done wrong.

Psalm 10:12(NIRV) has a strong message. It says: Lord, rise up! God, show your power! Don’t forget those who are helpless. This reminds me of Isaiah 60:1-2(AMP) “Arise , shine ; for your light has come, And the glory and brilliance of the LORD has risen upon you. “For in fact, darkness will cover the earth And deep darkness will cover the peoples; But the LORD will rise upon you And His glory and brilliance will be seen on you.”

Psalm 10:17-18(TLB) ends with a message of hope: Lord, you know the hopes of humble people. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort their hearts by helping

them. You will be with the orphans and all who are oppressed, so that mere earthly man will terrify them no longer. God listens to the hopes of simple, everyday people. He hears us and helps us. God is there for those who need Him most, so we don't have to be scared.

Today, let's remember that God's is with us. Let's stand tall and shine!
