Trust in God always

During life's storms, Psalm 62 offers a beacon of hope, echoing king David's unwavering trust in God. This Psalm, penned during a time of profound personal crisis, as David faced betrayal and threats from his own son, reveals a deep, steadfast faith in the Lord.

David begins with a declaration of confidence, Psalm 62:1-2(NLT) I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. Here, David doesn't just recognise God as a helper or an ally; he sees God as the sole source of his salvation and strength.

His reliance on God is not born out of naivety but a profound understanding that trust in mere mortals is fleeting and fragile. It's a realisation that true strength and wisdom come from God alone, a recognition that is as relevant today as it was in David's time. In the stillness of his heart, David found his undivided confidence in the Lord. This unwavering trust is a foundation upon which our hope should also be established. Despite the adversities and threats that surrounded him, David, a man after God's own heart, chose to wait in silence for God's deliverance.

This is particularly significant is verse 5, where David seems to be reminding himself of this truth, almost as if preaching to his own soul, Psalm 62:5–7(ESV) For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Psalm 62 culminates in a powerful exhortation in verse 8a(AMP), Trust in Him at all times. This isn't just a call to passive belief but an active, continuous trust in God, a trust that offers rest to our souls and assures us that we will never be shaken.

In emulating David's example, we learn that in times of trouble, our first response should be to turn to God, to place our trust in Him, and to find our peace in His unchanging nature. As we navigate our own challenges, may we find solace and strength in the truth that God alone is our rock, our salvation, and our fortress.
