*A cry for help: “God, answer me now!” * Psalm 69:16-18(MSG) Now answer me, GOD, because you love me; Let me see your great mercy full-face. Don’t look the other way; your servant can’t take it. I’m in trouble. Answer right now! Come close, God; get me out of here. Rescue me from this death trap. Psalm 69 reflects a period in David's life when he faced severe difficulties due to numerous enemies. During this adversity, David longs for God’s intervention. His desperation is evident as he urgently pleads: Now answer me, GOD, and I’m in trouble. Answer right now! David's need extends beyond mere assistance; he yearns for God’s presence: Let me see your great mercy full-face and Come close, God. It’s a common experience that in challenging times, we may feel our faith wavering, questioning if God hears our prayers. During such moments, like David, we can offer a prayer of desperation, imploring God for immediate help, seeking the face of God. Seeking His presence. Albert Barnes (Notes on the Book of Psalms, p.226) articulates this beautifully, stating, “It is not wrong to ask God to interpose at once in our behalf when we are in trouble, though it is our duty to be patient and resigned if his interposition is delayed, for he may have important ends to accomplish by our continuing to suffer”. Let me offer encouragement with Psalm 33:20-22(ESV) Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.
