This new year master a new skill

“All learning essentially boils down to self-improvement. Whether you’re improving an academic skill, picking up a new hobby or trying to expand your business, your efforts lead to meaningful personal growth. Your knowledge is an investment because it helps you become a more well-rounded person. It helps you connect with others. It gives you the confidence you need to succeed in other areas of your life.” Scott Lee

The fundamental meaning of the Greek word for disciple used in the Bible is “a learner.” Discipleship means a lifelong learning process.

Matthew 11:29 (NIV) “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,”

The apostle Paul was open to learning even as an adult. He said, Philippians 4:11-12, (NLT) “Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. 12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.”

Proverbs 19:8 (GNT). “Do yourself a favour and learn all you can; then remember what you learn and you will prosper”

Proverbs 4:13 (GNT) “Always remember what you have learned. Your education is your life — guard it well”

Proverbs 18:15 (ESV) “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.”

Abraham Lincoln once said, "I do not think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday."

"Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow." - Anthony D'Angelo

Proverbs 9:9 (ESV)”Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.”

Take a decision today, to master a new skill as one of your new year commitments.

Read - Reading is key to learning. “Not all readers are leaders, but all leaders are readers.” said Harry S. Truman.

In a study of 5,000 managers and employees as reported in the book “Great at Work,” people who practiced work-related skills such as delivering sales pitches, listening better in meetings, or presenting ideas performed significantly better than those who didn’t. To be a top performer, you don’t have to spend hours each day on practice — as little as 15 minutes a day is suffice.

Thus, it only takes 15 minutes a day to be a top performer. Start today.
